Welcome to Alum Rock United Methodist Church! Elsewhere on this website you will see our Mission/Vision Statement. It is a summary of who we aspire to be. We may not live it perfectly, but we trust Christ to lead us forward in making it a reality. First, we are a community of disciples of Jesus Christ. What it means to follow Jesus may be a little different for each one of us. Our hope is that we can help one another to deepen our faith. Being a place where all people are safe and welcome is key to how we see ourselves. We know that there are many places in our society—including many churches—where people feel unsafe because of their social-economic status, racial background, sexual orientation, being in recovery, or any number of other reasons. We want you to find a welcome here. We identify as a multi-cultural congregation with people whose first languages include English, Spanish, Tagalog, Tongan, Korean, and possibly others. Our community is stronger when we can learn from each other. Many of our ministries focus on reaching out to the marginalized of our community. We operate a food pantry called Epiphany and we host the Safe Park program in partnership with Amigos de Guadalupe. Our particular call is to serve those who are living on the edges of poverty. You may think that organized religion is not for you. You may think that faith in Christ(or anything else) is silly. You may have been hurt in the past by other Christian groups because you asked too many questions or you could not conform to a way of being you. We seek to be a different kind of church. Every question is important. How you dress or how many tattoo sand piercings you have is not important. We don’t care about your past. We only want to walk with you as you grow into the future.

Pastor Randy Smith.
